The Speer Trust is occasionally asked for emergency funds from projects.  An emergency request must arise from a project previously funded by Speer when it encounters an unexpected situation or occurrence of a serious and urgent nature that demands immediate actions.  Other requests will be deferred to the next funding cycle.

Based on the purpose and goals for the Speer Trust, the following procedures and guidelines are implemented to determine if emergency funding is considered for a grant.

1. The project must be one already funded by the Speer Trust – other requests will be deferred for regular funding cycles;
2. The original project report be reviewed to ascertain if a portion of the project could be cut back or postponed without endangering is existence and that funding for the emergency request be submitted during a normal funding cycle;
3. Two commission representatives and the director may visit the project staff to collect more information on the current crisis if necessary;
4. If technical assistance is needed to solve the urgent program this can be approved by the Speer Executive Committee or the entire Commission.

Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000.
